We are seeking an experienced and visionary Vice President, Director for Development enablement and enterprise tools portfolio to lead and oversee the company’s innovation of delivering to the markets quicker. Dev Enablement is a multi-disciplinary initiative that rebalances security and access in order to support a more productive and innovative technology engineering environment. This initiative seeks to remove barriers to product development that currently cause issues in product quality, reliability, time-to-market, and staff retention. 

This executive will be responsible for driving innovation, enhancing engineering excellence, and ensuring the integration of robust security practices within the software development lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in technology leadership, DevSecOps practices, cloud infrastructure, and global team management.

The Director, Development will manage a team of highly skilled DevOps engineers who align closely with the application development and enterprise architecture teams enablement and will be responsible for consolidating the portfolio of tools in the critical path for the development organization, and driving their adoption of across the organization.


RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Perform an assessment and provide recommendations to improve product development teams’ work environments and productivity. Identify development enablement areas that aim to facilitate more predictable, higher quality product releases, reduce friction and low-value work, and lead to better staff retention and recruitment.
  • Design the basic framework for improving developer productivity–after identifying operational bottlenecks using industry benchmarks. Set goals using quantifiable engineering metrics and automate productivity improvement and toil reduction.
  • Identify, research, and evaluate new software development tools based on business needs, technical requirements, and industry trends to optimize development processes. 
  • Lead the planning and execution of tool rollouts, ensuring proper integration with existing systems, training for developers, and change management strategies.
  • Manage expenses to budget and always focus on optimizing the portfolio for streamlined operation
  • Work closely with multiple stakeholders including engineering, Information Security, networking to oversee the successful delivery of complex technical solutions, ensuring high-quality and timely delivery. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement best practices for cloud and DevOps processes and tools 
  • Ensure compliance with security and data privacy protocols
  • Lead and manage a team of DevOps professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and technical expertise 
  • Assist with developing and monitoring controls related to Cloud and Emerging Technologies and to meet applicable security, audit, regulatory requirements 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or related technical field. Graduate degree preferred. 
  • Extensive knowledge of various software development tools: IDEs, code repositories, build systems, testing frameworks, continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines 
  • 8+ years working with public cloud services providers specifically AWS – as a consumption of platform services and automation and scaling of services 
  • Excellent people management and leadership capabilities and ability to effectively prioritize, execute, and delegate tasks in a high-pressure environment 
  • Deep understanding of IT financial structures and ability to manage to corporate financial practices and goals, including drivers of process cost 
  • Experience working with a wide range of open-source tools and distribution engines 
  • Demonstrated success leading large-scale initiatives/transformations
