SOX Manager
We are seeking a SOX Manager with demonstrated success building and leading a team in the design, implementation, and evaluation of Internal controls over Financial Reporting. The person in this position will be responsible forassisting and performing assessment of risks and controls for financial reporting by following Company’s adopted control assessment approach. This position interacts with internal and external auditors, as well as process owners and executives. The person in this role will serve as the Internal Controls liaison for Sarbanes-Oxley processes, including, but not limited to, Accounting, Financial Reporting, Treasury, Risk, Payroll, Technology.
In this Role You Will:
- Plan and execute Risk identification/mitigation & control rationalization strategies
- Facilitate the annual SOX Risk Assessment and define in-scope processes
- Coordinate walkthroughs and testing with internal and external teams
- Advise on internal control design, integration, implementation, and execution
- Coordinate walkthroughs and testing with internal and external teams
- Assistevaluation of process design documentation including preparing/reviewing workpapers and documenting results
- Oversee operating effectiveness testing of controls and assess impact of control deficiencies along with remediation plans
- Facilitate and monitor SOX certification process
- Support maintenance and organization of control documentation (e.g., flowcharts, risk-control matrix, process narratives)
- Administer SOX compliance software (Workiva)
- Provide training and guidance for junior Team Members
- Collaborate with senior Team Members to support cross-functional initiatives
- Support Finance or Technology special projects as assigned
What We Are Looking For:
- Working knowledge of Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage time effectively and balance multiple tasks
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A team player who can ask thoughtful questions and follow through on tasks
- A self-starter with a collaborative mindset who is eager to lead the team to success
- Interest in exploring AI and Gen AI in streamlining processes and implementing efficiencies
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related business field.
- Working knowledge of Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOC) requirements
- 1+ years of management experience
- Experience with SOX implementation in financial services companies highly preferred
- Experience with ITGCs and IT dependencies preferred
- Preferred certifications include CPA, CISA or CIA
- 5+ years of public accounting experience preferred
