Senior Platform Engineer
Location: Baltimore, MD
We are looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to join our high-performing Technology Operations -Network, Cloud and Server Team within the Production Operations organization. In this role, you will be responsible for deploying, automating and remediating Azure Cloud environments, hybrid environments and SD-Wan environment. Reporting to the Technology Operations -Network, Cloud and Server Engineering Manager, you will work closely with cross-functional technology teams to design and implement systems, dashboards, and automation. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring the stability and performance of our systems, making this a key position in our fast-paced and dynamic environment. Critical thinking, system analysis, and automation skills will be essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
· Design, Build, and Automate Azure Cloud Solutions:
· Collaboration and Project Participation:
o Collaborate with application development teams to define and document project-specific requirements for logging, monitoring, and alerting in each project or release.
o Participate in complex initiatives, ensuring accurate and actionable logging and monitoring are in place for every step of business-critical transactions.
· Branch Network Monitoring and Proactive Resolutions:
o Collaborate with our team to improve the company branch network through automation and creative solutions.
· Active Directory Engineering Expertise to Maintain and Enhance the Efficiency:
o Develop Solution to increase through put and maintain the availability of our active directory environment.
· System Validation and Documentation:
o Develop and maintain automation scripts to enhance efficiency and improve quality of life for platform teams.
o Proactively identify process improvements and learning opportunities for continuous improvement within the team.
· Automation and Quality of Life Improvements:
o Contribute to the automation of monitoring, alerting, and operational tasks to streamline workflows and improve overall system reliability.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year College or University
· Experience: 5 to 10 years of hands-on experience in network and/or hosting engineering and support, end-user and remote device support, and IT operations.
· 3-5 years working with Azure hosting, virtual networking, and cloud resource management.
Required Skills:
· Excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
· The knowledge and drive to implement automation and orchestration to reduce toil and daily burden including basic understanding of software programming methods and design.
· Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, PowerShell) and
· Have experience with Monitoring and Alerting systems
· Experience using Confluence to document processes, procedures, and policies
· Strong understanding of Windows and Linux Operating systems
· Ability to think outside the box to find solutions to solve difficult problems.
· Detail oriented. Able to take on complex tasks, research the task, develop a plan, and implement the task with minimal input and direction.
· Collaborate with multiple teams to endure company initiatives are achieved
Preferred Qualifications:
· Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, C family languages, JavaScript).
· Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Ansible and Terraform.
· Strong understanding of how to create actionable, digestible data visualizations for Level 1 monitoring teams.
· Working knowledge of REST APIs, JSON, and Data Endpoints
· Waterfall and Agile project management methods including experience with Jira.
· Familiarity with or hands-on experience managing network infrastructure and battery backup devices.
· Knowledge of ITIL v4 Service Management and Change Management best practices.
· Experience using an ITSM platform for ticket management and infrastructure change control
· Excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
